Use of Flutone

Step 1 (Axe 1): Align the Flutone to the right of the lip plate of the flute and secure it with the included elastic band. Then, adjust its position vertically and parallel to the flute’s axis until you find the desired placement.

Step 2 (Axe 2): Rotate the upper part of the Flutone (the cone) gently to adjust it to the desired position of your lips. Each side offers a different inclination.

Step 3 (Axe 3): Utilizing the three-axis adjustment capability of the Flutone, fine-tune its position to optimize your sound.

Step 4 (optional): Once you’ve found the optimal position, mark a dot on the flute at the belt hole with a permanent marker to remember the exact placement of the Flutone (it cleans easily with a little rubbing alcohol), or you can affix a white label (6 are included) especially for wooden flute headjoints.

Tips

The process of finding the ideal location for Flutone that suits your needs is of utmost importance and typically takes time, often spanning a few days, requiring patience.
To confirm the correct position of the Flutone, it is sufficient to test it – after we have chosen a convenient position for our lips – by leaving it for a few hours after playing. If we have the desired sound then Flutone is in the right place and will give us the maximum of our tone quality.
